What types of initiatives have been completed through Agents of Change?
More than 3,600 Agents of Change community improvement initiatives have been funded worldwide since 2017. Small groups of parents or older adults sponsored through Unbound have created safer, healthier communities by improving access to clean water, renovating classrooms, paving roads for safer travel and installing streetlights, among many other initiatives. Learn more about the impact.
What do the small groups contribute to their initiative?
Each Agents of Change initiative is a collaboration between a generous donor and members of a small group. The donor provides the grant amount listed on the proposal, making the initiative possible.
As they develop their plans, group members identify any additional resources they’ll need to provide. This may include organizing volunteer labor, gathering donations of materials locally, raising additional funds through community efforts or forming partnerships with government entities. These contributions not only help close funding gaps but also empower the groups to take ownership of the change they’re creating.

Can I partially fund an initiative?
In the same way a sponsored friend has only one sponsor, each Agents of Change initiative has one donor who fully funds it. However, you’re welcome to donate to our Agents of Change Fund, where your donation will be combined with others to support initiatives that have gone the longest without receiving funding.
How do I donate to Agents of Change using my individual retirement account (IRA), donor advised fund (DAF), stocks, cryptocurrency or other non-cash assets?
Please read more here or call us at 800-875-6564. We’ll be happy to discuss options and help you through the process!
How can I find an initiative to fund in my sponsored friend’s country?
Visit Unbound.org/Proposals and use the filters to search by country or by category to find the initiative that’s closest to your heart.
Can I donate more money than what’s listed for a particular grant?
If you’d like to donate more than the amount requested, we ask that you consider funding an additional initiative or donating the extra money to our Agents of Change Fund, which is used primarily for initiatives that don’t get selected by other donors. Thank you for being so thoughtful in partnering with communities to bring about lasting change!
Can a group or organization I’m a part of fund an Agents of Change initiative?
At Unbound, we see the power of collective action every day. If your group or organization is inspired to support Agents of Change, we encourage you to work together to make a meaningful impact.
Because each initiative is funded through a single donation, we ask that your group combine contributions and submit them as one gift. Designating a group leader or committee to guide the process will help you when setting a fundraising goal, recording and acknowledging contributions for transparency, sharing updates and celebrating milestones.
If members of your group prefer to give individually, we suggest directing those gifts to the Agents of Change Fund, where they will still support impactful, community-led initiatives.

When will I receive an update about the initiative I funded?
Every Agents of Change initiative is unique, shaped by the needs and priorities of the community members. Timelines vary as community groups tackle challenges in difficult contexts and work hard to ensure progress.
Once a local group completes their initiative, we will send an impact report via email, typically about six to eight months after we receive your donation. This report will highlight the progress made and the difference your support helped create. While most initiatives are completed within that timeframe, unforeseen circumstances occasionally cause delays.
