Faith, love and sacred corn

In the 1960s, Francisco and María’s paths crossed not once but twice in Guatemala, and they eventually married. Their love story spanning almost 60 years was strengthened by faith and, later, elder sponsorship, which helped them live out their lives with honor and dignity.

In Manila, Maribel, the mother of sponsored youth James, has been a street food vendor for more than 15 years, selling fish balls, hot dogs and other traditional cuisine. With the help of Unbound’s Critical Needs Fund during the pandemic, Maribel was able to widen her food cart and make the structure stainless steel, which has helped increase her business.
